The carrying straps on my binoculars are worn out after 20 years of heavy use. I decided to switch to cable. The advantages are that it is lighter, does not vibrate in the wind and does not twist like straps. My complaints are that the cord is very stiff and the adjuster which is in the middle of the upper back is uncomfortable to lean on and finally the longest adjustment barely reaches the length I like. I can literally hold the base of the cable with one hand and the cables stay straight. Basically, I like the setup. Given the pros and cons, I can't say I like it more than my old webbing or worse. Just different. Some better, some less.
