Review on Shimano EF500 7-Speed Right Brake/Shift Lever in Black - Model 586259 by Bhanu Hays

I thought you couldn't use a newer Shimano spacing on an old Shimano bike - I read about that somewhere. Then I lost my salvaged 7-speed derailleur that I was going to replace with a broken one on my 1989 Montare because I couldn't get to it right away when my back hurt. So $20 for a new derailleur but it was pretty easy to install and needs some tweaking but seems to be working great with my old intervals. (Then, two days after installing it, I found my old 7x life-saving switch that had been missing for years). The switch has a good feel although it is a bit large compared to my old switches. They gave me a new shift cable but no brake cable. Nice to have a fully working bike.
