This is my best 6" combo square. The slider is very flat and very easy to read if you want to use imperial units. The brass nut has a nice and sharp knurl and feels great. The rule changes when you move it. Also, the reference surfaces of the body are hollow, and only 4 tiny points make contact with the workpiece. Well, only 2 of these four will make contact if you're doing one of the most common things you use them for. And if you measure the outer corner, obviously a little grinding will make it slightly sharp. But it looks like many if not all of these cheap combo squares are made this way. That being said, I wouldn't set up a square like you see on YT until you've addressed those two points. There's no way to get reproducible results even knowing it's ready to use. And in any case, that will change if you decide to fix these two things. Stiff Movement: I found the ruler's movement to be very catchy and coarse, despite the deburring. I finally understood the reason. The hook barely fits in the slot, so the hook rubs against a very small piece of steel at the corner of the slot in the ruler. I was able to get the washer behind the clamp screw so it engages more fully. It healed it. Metric: Some squares allow you to flip the Metric slider. This slider runs in inches in one direction. And if you turn the slide over, you can read inches on the left and metric if you turn the square over to look at the other side. That's how I use it, which is great unless you're a hardcore metric.
