I got this because I'm a homemaker and some of my clients have expensive gas stoves with burners that heat up so much that it's difficult to cook something like oatmeal or guinea fowl which is a very low one Temperature requires adjustment. It works better on some cookers than others, but I'm still experimenting to see how much of a difference it makes if you put the pan closer to the edge of the steamer than right in the middle, as in some cases it's no better is than to cook directly on the gas burner. But it's very durable and I think it will be a lot more useful once I get used to how it works on different stovetops. I would recommend this to others.
