Anyone who does more with their Raspberry Pi than just packing it in the case needs one of these. This is not only good for designing your own circuits and such, but also very useful for setting up and testing simple peripherals like LCD screens and sensors. You'll also need a GPIO breakout board and breadboard to complete the set (I recommend this one, which also comes with jumpers and resistors). The only complaint is that the slick plastic glides easily over almost any hard surface, often with a horrible, deafening sound (like fingernails on a chalkboard), so you can get a set of rubber or silicone feet too.
