Support lift for 2010 Chrysler T&C Mini Van

The support lifts on the tailgate of our 2010 Chrysler T&C Mini Van have never been replaced. I noticed that when opening the tailgate manually, I had to push it up to fully open it. I did a little research on youtube looking to replace the lift mounts and they were a good price for a pair. Use a 6 foot stepladder to support the tailgate when removing/replacing the lift leg, it weighs several hundred pounds and the lift leg alone will not hold the tailgate up preventing injury. I would also recommend that you remove the bottom ball connector and then the top and back if you install the top first. The ball connector at the top is skewed, and fitting first and then below seems to work better for the clips to grab the ball connector. The star was removed because one of the latches failed to hold the top connector on the ball connector. I removed one of the clips from my old one and replaced the one that held. The other 3 clips appeared to be protected at the time of publication. Not sure what happened to a clip but it was an annoying fix. Bottom line, the lifting legs worked as advertised. Lift gates if you open them manually and arrive at a point they will open by themselves thanks to the NEW lift legs. Didn't know how much lower the back door was when it was fully open. The new lifting support pushes him back up. I would buy again if needed.
