This is the weirdest thing ever. I've used paper straws with coke and the like before and this is the first time I've had an odd reaction/feeling. First, when a straw is placed in a fizzy drink, it bubbles up, out the top of the straw, and down the sides. But what's worse for me is that the "taste" of straws is weird! It's not just the paper aspect. Like I said, I'm not against paper at all. But that. hm, hard to describe. Something floury? Not polite? It doesn't really reflect it but I can't use them which is a shame because they are really cute and seem well made. through a straw is DIFFERENT than what my ice cold coke does in a pitcher or glass. Crap? Interestingly, I get mostly foam, little liquid, and that's how I experience the resulting temperature issue. Very strange. However, they are quite happy with a bottle of Starbucks Frappuccino.
