Gauge works right out of the box. All of the various areas seem to be within their specs (or just marginally). Either way, it's good enough for 99% home use and a great deal. The test leads are very flexible which makes them easy to use, but they become a problem when using a 10 amp input. They lose about 1 volt for every 1 1/2 amps of current flowing through them. This can be a real problem if you don't have a lot of volts to start with. If you manage to apply 10 amps (with a loss of about 6 volts) the test leads will likely burn out. If you want to measure more than an amp or two, use thicker test leads. Still, make sure you don't expect more than 10 amps to flow or you will burn out the meter because there is no fuse on the 10 amp input.
