I only built 2 wheels but this tool definitely made my assembly easier. If you're pulling on black spokes and nipples, I don't know how to avoid damaging the black paint with a standard wrench. This tool grips the wedge head of the nipple from the outside. Using this tool, I found that micro-adjustments were needed at the end of the tuning. Positive head contact made it easy. However, if you do 10-12 turns and find that the nipple is tight, hold it tight, otherwise unscrew the head from the aluminum nipples. I had to order 16 more spokes to replace the 3 nipples I removed before the full setup. Yes, I had to cut the spokes to replace the nipple without unscrewing it. I only broke 3 nipple heads on 64 spokes. Not bad for a beginner, but still hard to break your rhythm and make progress with.
