Review on Aqueon Siphon Vacuum Gravel Cleaner Mini: Compact 5-Inch Cleaning Solution by Nicole Stone

KILLED MY FEMALE BETTA! ZERO STARS!

DO NOT buy this if you have nano tanks! I have had the original Aqueon Mini Siphon for many, many years. This was a life saver as it was self inflating and was perfect for emptying all of my small (2.5-5 gallon) tanks that were difficult to manoeuvre. Well it finally broke after being used hundreds of times (the plastic hose handle that attached to the siphon broke off) so I broke this one to use it (I bought this a while ago just for the case). First, the hose is MUCH larger. The suction power is incredibly strong, which I liked at first, wow, great! But then he started sucking rocks. My decorative glass ornaments in my battle tanks were sucked in and stuck. My gravel would get sucked in and end up in either the bucket or the choke part which allowed it to inflate itself and jam it. So then it wouldn't work, or if you managed to keep it running it would just be a trickle (and in the meantime, from shaking to filling, your tank is now full of floating poop). I was very angry and got to my last tank. , my 5 gallon nano hex. I was suspicious as there are dwarf kori, enders, amber tetra and lots of shrimp. But I was careful and everything seemed fine, but then suddenly it got stuck. I stopped sucking and peeked down the tube only to realize that my bantam, which was actually the largest fish in the tank, must have somehow jumped in the way. under the siphon and climbed in. It was stuck in the hinge part and we couldn't get it out as there is no way to disassemble that part. Eventually we were able to remove the tube, carefully pick up the chopstick, and gently push it back out. But it was too late. In fact, she was sucked so hard she was practically gutted. She was broken in half and her internal organs were ripped out. I'm totally broken right now. I loved this little girl. I had her for a long time and she was one of my favorites. Peaceful enough to live in harmony with all of their little housemates, shrimp and snails, and not harm anyone (sometimes female bettas can be just as mean as males). I'm so angry right now. Please understand, I have been keeping fish for over 35 years. I have over 20 aquariums and everything from guppies to rare catfish. I know what I am doing. This item is NOT SAFE FOR NANO/SMALL AQUARIUMS OR THEIR RESIDENTS!
