Works like a pro - dust pick up isn't very good

This great value little belt sander really packs a punch! I needed to sand peeling paint off my 400 square foot deck before painting it and I was about to rent a belt sander to get the job done when I came across this tool. It cost less to buy than rent a mill for 24 hours so I said what the heck? And it worked like a champ - polished my deck down to bare wood. I don't know how it will perform on more complex interior work, but outside on deckboards it was perfect - light, maneuverable, reliable. Much better than renting! Two things to watch out for. First, as others have said, the dust extraction doesn't really work. As you can see from one of the photos, most of the dust stayed on the deck. It wasn't a problem for me because I was outside, but inside it can be a problem. Secondly, follow the instructions and disconnect the cable before changing the belt! I did that most of the time, but one day I forgot and started the car at the wrong time. I wasn't hurt, but I tore the rubber bushing on the drive wheel. The grinder wouldn't hold the belt after that BUT I was able to find a replacement online for less than $10 and now this little one is working again. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Sanding flush to the edge for maximum productivity
Cons
  • Something different
