Makes you look like a pro!

I love the Atlantis Rail Easy product. My first attempt with a cable railing was a complete success. This stuff will make you feel like a pro even if you've never done it before. I replaced my old 80's interior railings with this stuff and can't believe the difference. I had six different sections and about 65 linear feet of railings that needed replacing. All of these devices are expensive. Here are some tips if you want to save $$$. Use four inches instead of three. This technically matches the code and looks more natural to me. Reuse existing posts and top rail if in good condition. I added 2x2 reinforcement to both the top and bottom rails to make them stronger. Mostly for aesthetic reasons. An added bonus is that they also cover up any ugly holes in old balustrades. Pre-drill holes on a cheap ruler and use it as a template in the future. Use color gel if you need to repaint the railing. This reduces grinding and preparation work to a minimum. For shorter runs, use left and right trailing anchors. They are cheaper than screw jacks and I was able to easily finish three shorter (6 foot or less) sections of railing this way. I put the right ones on the right side, the left ones on the left side, inserted about halfway, cut the cable and tightened a half turn on each side in turn. Be careful when you do this. Leave the right side a few more turns to secure the cable (both cable clamps are tightened with the right hand and you need to take this into account to avoid unwinding the cable). If you consider this. Act!
