Tested on my minivan to get extra height and it works. It connects the driver's and passenger's doors, but doesn't work with sliding doors because the door hooks are at an angle. In use, it supports my weight well, but I felt it wasn't as stable as I had hoped. It wobbles when you move, which doesn't give you much confidence and reduces your stability, but it sticks to the car well. If the steps at the bottom of the wall were wider, maybe it could be sturdier. It may be easier to use a chair when you are at home and need access to the roof of your car. I see this as something to keep in the car if you ever need to access your car's roof on the road or in an emergency.
