This item arrived in perfect packaging. All parts were included and securely fastened. The illustrations and instructions in the included manual are easy to understand. As a first-time user, I was a little nervous about the possibility of the knife slipping and cutting me, but the base sits securely on the tabletop and makes it easy to control the movement. Everything fits neatly into the box and is easy to store. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is not because the product doesn't do the job, it's because I tend to be lazy and it takes effort. In summary, however, my knives are much sharper than my other sharpener, which you run the blades through. And they stay sharp longer.
