A secure fit when it covers most of the stem end.

These plugs were purchased because I lost the one that came with the tape. I love that you can tighten these ends of the rods so there is less chance of losing them. The only downside I have is that the end cap is big enough to cover the hole and doesn't overlap at all. Because of this you can see the part of the band where it starts at an angle to the bar. See fig.
