Review on Simple Deluxe Reflector Thermostat Controller by Nathan Kalivas

Works great but gets very hot! We used this for our brooder when our chicks were 2-7 weeks old. I cut a large rectangle in the lid of a plastic bag and attached the wire mesh in the hole with decorative tape. I placed the lampshade directly onto the wire mesh and fished out the temperature sensor through the hole. The thermostat ensured the chicks were kept at an age appropriate temperature, which is much better than guessing and moving the heat source farther and farther away as the weeks go by. I liked this device, especially because it does not emit any light. I plan to use this in an outdoor stall during our mild but still cold winter in our South Florida countryside. **** ATTENTION **** The element gets really hot! BE CAREFUL when/if you pick it up from a place where it is normally used and put it down. After we removed the lamp from the incubator and placed it next to it on the rug by the door, it started smoking and now it's brown! Another time the lampshade was hanging over the wire mesh and touching the trim and plastic cover - the trim was burned and the plastic cover melted a bit. BE CAREFUL!
