Review on 🚴 Brooks Saddles Flyer Bicycle Saddle (Men's): Premium Comfort for Cyclists by Ben Demers

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The best saddle I've ever ridden!

This is the most comfortable saddle I have ever sat on. For me, the Flyer was relatively comfortable right out of the box and significantly better than the standard saddle. Before putting it on my bike I exposed it to the sun to warm it up a bit and then covered it well with Proofhide. When it was well absorbed I covered the saddle with a kitchen towel and lightly pounded it with a French rolling pin. Then I put it back in the sun to heat it up a bit more and added a second coat of Proofhide. Then I put it on my bike, tuned it in and rode it for 12 miles. I fell in love with him immediately. My stock saddle was too wide for my hips and rubbed too much on the inside of my legs. The flyer is narrower (175mm I think) and fits me much better. I'm 5ft 10", about 160lbs and sit 110mm apart. My bike is a city bike with North Road style handlebars and a relatively upright riding position (the handlebars are just above the seat). ) With this riding style and this geometry, the width of the Flyer is perfect for me. , they add a good ride dampening, especially since my frame is aluminum not steel, and I like to keep the tires inflated to max psi pressure. Some people say they don't feel the springs move at all. That wasn't my experience and I'm a relatively simple guy. If you place your fingers loosely on one of the spools while riding, you can feel the slight movement and shock absorption they make, especially when riding over large bumps or cracks in the pavement. dle looks better. Compared to other saddles I've ridden, I had to slide the Flyer way back on the rails and raise the nose slightly to get it in the right position. I've read that most people find a slight upward slope more comfortable in Brooks saddles, and that's definitely my experience. I haven't racked up many miles on my Flyer yet and it's definitely not fully broken in yet. However, it is already very comfortable and will only get better with time.
