Cuts very well. I'm a big fan of Freud blades and bits, but I'm giving them 3 stars for two reasons. On the one hand, the width of the groove and spigot and the axial height do not match at the factory. None of them were even standard. The slot measured 0.242 inches and the spigot was 0.210 inches. The axial height between slot and tenon was not 0.017 inch and had to be adjusted. It took some time to set them up, cut samples and retune them. Freud offers different spacers in different strengths for this process. Second, and this is disappointing, the height from the end of the shank where it enters the router collet to the 1/4 round piece is not the same for every router. Mine are about 0.030 inches off. This means you need to adjust the depth of the router bit on the router between the rails and the posts. I find setting up and cutting test pieces frustrating. It would have been so easy for Freud to get it right in a factory. My old Freud beats that I replaced with this set were matched so I could just plug in and play both beats. If you have access to a machine shop I believe the longer shank can be ground down. See both customer pictures. To use spacers, the spike bit requires an Allen key and a special key, which are included in the scope of delivery. The other bit will require a 1/2" open end wrench or similar - use your router bit or collet wrench on a fixed hex to unscrew it. As for other reviewers who received damaged beats, mine were fine. The shafts fit snugly onto the plastic base. I'm still a Freud fan, so to end on a positive note, the beats are very well cut and the quarter turns are well timed. If your router is easy to set up or you don't mind the setup process, you'll really like these parts.
