Review on Kitchen Scissors Japan Stainless Detachable by Eric Hay

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I was looking for a good pair of scissors to replace a rusty Cutco.

I was looking for a good pair of shears to replace the rusty Cutco I had previously. I looked and looked and saw very expensive scissors that didn't really look good. Yes I know Cutco will replace my rusty shears but I never really liked them and was very sad that they were rusty to begin with. You are perfect for me. They have all the features I like; Slotted screwdriver/blade, bottle opener, nut/shell cracker, very light teeth, can be dismantled. What I like the most is that they are all metal. I don't like buying things that I want to keep for a long time, made of plastic or with plastic parts. You fall in love with something and then the plastic cracks, melts, detaches, or just falls off. That can't be the case with these. However, these are not just two parts. They have blades riveted to the handles and a screw-in swivel, but for convenience they are just two pieces that can be separated without tools when fully open. That's good because it means they're easy to clean completely. They're nice and heavy, but not overly bulky or heavy like some of the other models I looked at before picking up. They're heavy enough to be essential, but not so heavy that they're clumsy or cumbersome to me. I won't try to cut through anything really hard because they are strong but still relatively thin and elegant. After all, as you would expect from Japanese products, they are precision crafted and beautifully finished. No, they're not as sharp and elegant as a samurai sword, but they're a vast improvement over the plastic-handled kitchen shears you see at hardware stores. They aren't actually as finely finished as some high quality cutlery shears, but they have a very smooth, slightly loose hinge and are really well balanced. I realize that their designer and manufacturer have done everything to make them as good as possible.

Cons
