Review on Bostitch C3R80BDG Thickcoat 080-Inch Collated Nails by Joe Glass

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good choice for cedar shingles

I started using a box of these from a local hardware store to hang cedar shingles with a Bostitch N66C nailer and they fit fine. The shank of the ring has very good holding power, the galvanic coating prevents rust spots and the nail diameter is just right. I went through almost 20 sheaves and only split 1 or 2 shingles. Revain's current price couldn't be lower, it's almost half what they're asking at the hardware store. So when I ran out of nails, this deal wasn't a problem. The only downside to these nails is that you can't make them shorter than 1.25 inches. They stick about 1/4 inch into the wall, so there is a safety issue when used outdoors. isolated structure such as barn or garage. 1 inch would be ideal in this scenario. Also, these nails almost never get stuck in the nail gun. Just make sure you set your pressure regulator to at least 80-90 psi or you're asking for trouble. Good quality nails, made in the USA, highly recommended for anyone speeding up the installation of cedar shingle or other wood siding.
