Review on PetSafe Ultrasonic Dog Bark Training Collar: Static-Free Correction for Large and Small Dogs by Beth Allen

This is my first review despite being a regular purchaser of Revain. My husband insisted we order this bark control collar because someone we knew had used it successfully. I had very little expectation that this would affect our loud, stubborn (but downright charming!) beagle mix. He barks when we see another dog (cat, squirrel, rabbit, fantasy creature, etc.) while walking. Noisy. This is annoying and embarrassing. Our lab barks at him, but his bark doesn't pierce his eardrums like a beagle's. We received the collar yesterday and used it then and this morning. This is amazing. Indeed a miracle. My dog barked once yesterday and once this morning. After that, he noticed other dogs, frowned as if thinking about it, and then just walked down the sidewalk. I was concerned that he would be uncomfortable, upset or anxious, but he seems perfectly fine. He's in his usual happy state, only calmer. I have a couple of concerns. I don't want him barking ever. He's a dog, that's a natural reaction. He doesn't bark for long and for no reason. So I will ONLY use this collar when walking. I want him to understand that you can't wake up your neighbors at 7am just because there are other dogs on the planet. Another thing that worries me is the fact that the collar seems quite delicate. The red light comes on when I cough, when a noisy car drives by, and possibly when it hits a tree or other object. So far it doesn't seem to respond when it flashes that briefly, so maybe that's not a problem. I'm hoping there's a difference in what he hears when he actually barks so he understands that's the reason for the tone. Since I can't hear it myself, it's hard to say. Overall I am delighted with this collar after 2 days of use. Too bad I bought it a long time ago. I'm sure this doesn't work for all dogs, but I'm so glad it works for us. I am cautiously optimistic that the success will continue. If not, I will update my review.
