Updated Version Review (V.II) I've had the original version for a few years now and really like it. When I saw the release of V.II I was very tempted. I also thought about Laowa FE. But the price difference is big enough to make me focus more on the updated V.II. I don't need it, but it's cheap enough to treat myself to. The updated lens is better in almost every way. The build quality is better. Fit and finish also seem to have improved. While I don't mind a plastic bracket, the new metal bracket is a welcome change. The resolution is visually better across the frame; whether the improvement is visible on the small screen is debatable. Wide open performance is noticeably better. I still don't care about the lens cap. The aperture ring rotates in the opposite direction compared to the original version. Original Version (vI) This is a really cheap FE, but the IQ is very high in absolute terms and extremely high when you factor in the cost. I bought it spontaneously because of the price, but overall I like the UWA. I have an Olympus 4/3 9-18 which is good but not wide enough and relatively slow. The f/2.8 aperture is good. Focusing on the GX85 is really easy. It is solidly built and has some weight. However, the bayonet is plastic, not metal, but I don't care. The lens hood is removable. Sometimes it is difficult to put on the rubber lens cap. I have FE and UWA lenses for my APS-c system and this is the first FE for my m4/3. Based on limited experience comparing the two platforms, I feel quite comfortable with this 7artisans FE.
