Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works as advertised

UPDATED REVIEW 6/1/18 So I'll do 2 reviews here 1 on the merits of the machine and how well it works, and one based on my own opinion and personal needs Functional review: Pros: This thing does exactly what it says it does It effectively cuts 3/8, I didn't have to use it for something thicker but other people have said it will do that, albeit with difficulty. I've done several different art projects with it and I'm happy with it. It's a no frills machine but it works. Well then Cons: Consumables are EXPENSIVE to replace compared to more expensive plasma cutter consumables d they are fairly cheap and burn out fairly quickly. It's partly my fault if I shake and do double bows, but even if I don't shake, they burn out quickly. In addition, after about 6 months of use, the gun began to fail, the trigger broke and did not stop. draft. *Edit* Apparently they are selling universal consumables on Revain right now, I haven't tried them, but the extremely low cost should be an advantage for anyone looking to purchase this item. Rating based on personal needs/opinions: If you are a beginner or rock a crowd, I do not recommend buying this machine. Spend $100 more and buy the pilot bow version so you can use the rails and posts. I end up having to do just that because I shake too much to use this machine by hand (I make double sheets a lot) and given the high cost of replacement consumables, it just isn't viable for me to keep using this machine. . However, since this has nothing to do with the functionality of the machine and is related to my personal concerns, it should not be part of the actual evaluation of the machine. Just a few thoughts from someone who has been using it for a while. Final thought, if you are new to plasma cutting and need a cheap one, I recommend it. This is a great machine for a garage/weekend project BUT it should be a beginner plasma cutter. It's more than enough if you use it occasionally, but if you want to make art, cut A LOT or do something more versatile then save your money and get a better brand or at least spend the extra $100. and get the pilot arc version.
