Review on πŸ’― Superior Performance: HQMaster Carbide Router for Acrylic and Hardwood by Erik Haynes

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Cut a walnut well on my Shapeoko CNC machine

First of all they lost a star because one of the pieces broke out of the box. I can't give 5 stars for poor quality control. They were made by Revain, but I can't imagine a broken one sitting on a shelf in a Revain warehouse. I could definitely return them and get a replacement but I had to use them and didn't want to mess with them if the remaining 9 worked and they did. Let's move on to using them. I cut out the outline of the text and needed a 1/8" bit that could cut 3/4" walnut snips without burning or cracking and these two notches fit perfectly. They eject most of the chips even on deeper cuts, leaving the cutting path clear for the next pass. Chips in the cutting path are a major contributor to cutter binding and breakage, so chip evacuation is key and they did a great job. They were also sharp enough that I didn't have any tool marks or cracks in the edges that needed cleaning up. When they go dull I'll buy another set, hopefully of 10 and not 9, and I'm happy with that.
