I have not diagnosed a battery not holding a charge

This tester is quick and easy to use as long as you read the instructions and know you can't use the 'quick test' feature on a starter battery, which is rated based on CCA (or any standard other than Ah). Instead, you must use the "Battery Out of Vehicle” menu item. no sweat I had bought two identical starter batteries at the same time and suspected I had a problem with one of them. I checked both batteries and the analyzer said both are fine but need to be charged. I placed each battery on the charger until my charger indicated a full charge. I used the analyzer after charging and it showed good battery and over 98% charge each. I then placed both batteries on a shelf (not connected to a load) and tested again with the analyzer a day and then two days later. The analyzer showed a small drop in charge in one healthy battery, but the charge in another battery dropped to 50% within two days of no load. However, the analyzer showed that it was a good battery that just needed to be charged. My conclusion from this is that the analyzer will not diagnose a battery that is not holding a charge. It seems to show the percentage of charge and battery voltage well. It lists the available CCA for my starter batteries, but I wonder about the accuracy because it always lists more than the rated CCA, even with my battery not holding a charge. The bottom line is that I expected an accurate diagnosis as to whether or not my battery would fail in service, and I didn't get one. Since this tool is easy to use and still of limited use to me, I give it a few stars.
