ANCEL BA101 Professional Automotive Motorcycle Review

Great and essential tool for vehicle owners and for testing CCA certified batteries. The test is quick and the results are almost perfect. The ability to transfer the latest result to PC is a great feature. It would be great if at least 10 previous test results were stored in the device for transfer to a PC. It also works at low voltage (between 2 and 12V) as long as there is enough battery power to power the device. Didn't test the device in the 'machine in' option.

The ANCEL BA101 12V Battery Tester offers so much information and yet is easy to use. The cable is long enough for my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 and the clips hook onto the connectors perfectly. The display is easy to read and the buttons are responsive. The data provided is easy to read and you can perform various tests in addition to determining the remaining battery power. It also lets you know if the battery needs to be charged or replaced. I would recommend this to any pro as well as the average

The instrument prompts you to enter the ampere-hour (Ah) value of the battery before beginning the test. Car batteries sold in the US are rated for CCA, not AH. There is no reliable way to convert CCA to AH, so starting a car battery test is impossible. The device can be operated with deep cycle batteries such as those used in solar systems, as these are designed for Ah. To my knowledge, car batteries sold in Europe and Asia are rated AH, so the product can work in those countries.

On first use, the device reported an incorrect result for a battery tested in an auto repair shop. I ran the test two more times on the battery and got similar results to the store analysis. Maybe the first launch was just an accident. Two more tests with fresh batteries gave results consistent with new batteries. I'll probably do 2 out of 3 tests when thinking about future use. I would like to give it a higher rating but the test results are confusing. A new battery is installed and the quick test shows a different result than the car battery test. The same test items, CCA rating, charge percentage, battery condition, internal resistance, etc. are listed BUT the numbers shown are different. A quick test shows 96% charge, but "battery in car" shows 71%? Both tests were performed 3 minutes apart. So what is it, 96 or 71? Same goes for ohms and CCA values which are…

Just took this product to test a 12v RV battery and a pair of 6v batteries*. Very simple/easy to use product. I have used an ANCEL product before so the reading and ease of use is as easy as their other products. No external power supply or simple adjustments required to test the integrity of your batteries. This tester is quick and easy to use as long as you read the instructions and know you can't use the 'quick test' feature on a starter battery, which is rated based on CCA (or any standard other than Ah). Instead, you must use the "Battery Out of Vehicle” menu item. no sweat I had bought two identical starter batteries at the same time and suspected I had a problem with one of them. I checked both batteries and the analyzer said both are fine but need to be charged. I placed each battery on the
