I was looking for a KVM for those times when my laptop is plugged into the same station as my desktop. I tried a software solution that works over the network, but I didn't like it. Sometimes the program connects my two devices (with keyboard and mouse) when I'm in another room. So I chose this as a solution to share my Logitech G910 (RGB mechanical keyboard) between my desktop and laptop. I am very happy. I've heard others complain about the "whistle" but I can't hear mine. The coils seem fine. Pros: USB 3.0 support. If I want to connect my USB 3.0 drive to share files between computers without having to mess with network shares, this is the way to go! The transition between the devices is (almost) fluid. Because it's a digital switch, switching between devices takes a second. This device only connects to the appropriate USB 3.0 ports on my desktop and laptop dock. Between the two, there seems to be enough power for my keyboard, mouse, and drive. I would recommend this product. I also recommend attaching it with a decent amount of double sided tape or glue to keep it in place.
