I have 3 older Basset Hounds. One is over 13 years old and the other two littermates are 10 years old. They all had their teeth checked by the vet once a year, and most of the time a few more teeth are lost each time they are decalcified. The cost of these rose to $300-$400 per dog or more if they had to be removed. I had to find a way to reduce my dental expenses. Our veterinary assistant recommended trying this type of product to help them keep their teeth cleaner longer by preventing tartar build-up. I have used this type of product when I have shown my dogs and rarely pulled my teeth and brushed my teeth less often. Many different brands are available. After reading about many of them and their reviews, I decided to try it because it was all natural and tasteless and the overall rating was very good. I ordered 16 ounces. bottle to try. My 3 bassets were in various stages of dental work. One had a tooth a few weeks ago, another had a tooth about 6 months ago and a 13 year old had her last tooth almost a year ago. I followed the directions and started them all on the same day. All three drank the water straight away and none of them experienced any adverse effects from the product. The bottle lasted my 3 bassets who weigh between 50 and 68 pounds for about 3 weeks. ALL three have some improvement and the deposits on their teeth are decreasing. Your breath will no longer smell unpleasant and the tarter will go away without brushing or scratching. Even my 13-year-old has significantly less tarter. Her teeth are looking a lot better so I'm hoping she won't need a cleaning or tooth extraction when she goes to the vet next month for her annual check up.
