That's a great deal at $10 with change! I used Mobil 1 Extended Performance, changed filters every 5,000 miles and oil every 15,000. K&N did a good job using one of the best extended life oils on the market. I have 25,000 on this filter and oil combo and recently ran compression and oil analysis tests (at 100,000 service) which confirmed they are doing their job of protecting my engine. The compression test showed almost the same numbers I got at 60,000 when I switched out the stock Mobil 1 every 5,000 miles. This is especially true since I have a small 4 cylinder engine that runs at around 4250 rpm on the highway. It doesn't matter to me whether the filter is more responsible than the oil or vice versa. Most importantly, both elements are doing what they need to do to keep my little Scion purring at 36mpg. At $15 it will be a steal.
