These skates are so fast they often break and fall unless your kid is already a pro. They're also so heavy that it's difficult to lift your legs and put one foot in front of the other, so it's more like skiing, which isn't the same. In general, the idea is great, but I'm disappointed. I can't get my 8 year old son to try again after injuring himself a few times. Update: I watched some YouTube videos and realized we were using them incorrectly. You don't have to try to lift your legs like normal skating, you just stand there and then kind of swing ONE leg and that propels you forward. That's why they're designed to be so fast and fluid. I am leaving my stars at 3 now and we will try and see them in a new way. I really think they should include some education for people to avoid that kind of disappointment.
