So I read the reviews before buying and saw a lot of negative reviews. I travel a lot for work and have noticed that many hotels no longer have coffee machines in the rooms. I assume it is due to COVID or because there is coffee available in the lobby at all times. I'm not sure but I have to get up very early to work and when I'm traveling or staying in a hotel the last thing I want to do when I wake up at 3am is get dressed to going to the office lobby just to get a cup of coffee. I went ahead and bought it because I really couldn't find anything else that was compact AND programmable. Honestly, after a few uses, I have to believe that the bad reviews are due to user error. First, you'll definitely need to run the vinegar through your new coffee maker a few times to give it a good clean. The first few times I ran vinegar through, the strainer stayed about 1/2 full. It didn't drain completely, but after 3 or 4 rinses with the vinegar solution, it drained completely. The filter is very thin and probably clogged because it is factory coated. So I can only assume that those who say it kept spilling over the counter didn't clean it properly before using it. This coffee maker has become a real lifesaver. It's small enough to fit in my suitcase and makes just the right amount of coffee for me before heading out for a long, hard day's work. The bonus is that it's programmable and I have hot coffee when I wake up. And the included water filter does a great job of removing the bad taste of tap water that I add to the unit. Definitely 5 stars!
