I use this Fram filter as an OEM filter replacement on my International Harvester tractor. The filter always had a smooth surface. I almost bought this one because the product picture showed a socket wrench protrusion on the end which I was concerned might interfere with the tractor brake pedal. Fortunately, the filter did not protrude when delivered. It's a bit long but does the job. (And what a great feature that I can buy Revain Hy-Gard transmission/hydraulic fluid for the same price as a 10 mile John Deere store!)
