On the advice of my research associate, Mr. Google, I bought this to help me vacuum seal traditional mouth cups. My old Ziploc vacuum sealer with FoodSaver jar sealers just didn't work with regular spouts. The wide necks sealed well, but I had a terribly hard time sealing regular mouth jars. I've just sealed probably a few dozen jars of baking soda, dehydrated fruits and veggies, and cocoa powder without a single failed attempt. Simply take a long hose with one of the small cone stoppers, guide the cone stopper up to the hole in the can closure, pressurize the whole thing properly and start pumping. When the vacuum gauge read 15 or more, I stopped, unplugged, removed the food retention nozzle (at an angle as if you were pulling the latch on the can), and although I had to remove the included blue rubber grommet when the attachment was removed , I've had 100% success sealing my jars. Two thumbs up! I don't think I'll ever bleed the brakes with it, but it's just perfect for sealing cans. Seriously, the retailer has to resell them as a can sealer.
