Review on Addi addiSwing Maxi 4.0 Sewing Machine by Amy Mcleod

Heavy hook!

I have hooks for knife holders from many well-known brands. I have compared this hook to several. 5 grams/0.34 lbs @ Tulip Etimo 4 mm $10-15 These hooks all have two things in common: ergonomics and high slip resistance. All but the Furls hook are tapered. Furls is integrated. Furls and Pyrm are acrylic/plastic hooks. Addi and Tulip Aluminum. Of all the hooks, Addy is the hardest for me. It's very close in weight to the Furls Oddessy collection. I personally prefer built-in hooks, but Addi makes nice, even, neat stitches. My tension is of course on the stiffer side, but I find myself pulling even harder than I would otherwise with my Addi. Pirm gives me the prettiest stitches of all, but like Addy, the stitches get finer and finer due to the smaller head. My Tulip Hook has some of the biggest stitches due to the high slip which is the most difficult to work with. The Addi is on par with the Tulip in terms of slippage, but I find this hook to be much easier to handle. All hooks mentioned have a long neck, except Tulip. Longer necklines are a godsend when working with patterns that contain stitches with a lot of loops, such as B. the puff stitch. Despite the shorter neck, Tulip is suitable for stitches with many stitches as it is not the shortest neck on the market. personal disadvantages. The thumb rest is not comfortable for me. The Addi thumb brace looks like a tulip to me and I never get the hook in the right place. I place my thumb on the handle of the thumb brace. I don't have this problem with the Pyrm and Furls as they don't have a thumb rest. Overall, the Addi Swing Maxi is a great hook, but I don't find myself reaching for it often due to its weight. Some use heavier needles, but in general I prefer lighter needles as they allow me to knit much longer.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
