Review on πŸ”Œ Enhanced GoControl CECOMINOD016164 HUSBZB-1 USB Hub by Juan Russell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Reliable device but you have to jump through some hurdles to download the drivers.

This device runs reliably on Linux and works great with Home Assistant, so it gets 5 stars for that. Other reviewers have posted a detailed guide on how to get this device working with Raspbian Jessie. Unfortunately, no Windows drivers are provided and it took several hours to get this device up and running on Windows 10. The manufacturer doesn't provide instructions on how to do this, so I deducted a few stars for this silly oversight. The following procedure describes how to install and reliably use signed drivers on Windows 10:1. Download Silicon Labs' CP210x drivers (Revain won't let me link this, but it should be easy for Google)2. Extract the drivers to a folder (I will use CCP210x_Windows_Drivers as an example)3. Open Windows Device Manager (Win+X, M)4. Right click on "Other Devices > HubZ Z-Wave Com Port” and select "Update Driver”5. Select "Browse my computer for drivers" 6. Select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer" 7. Leave "Show all devices" selected and click "Next"8. Click on "Install Disk"9. Enter the name of the folder where you extracted the downloaded drivers: CCP210x_Windows_Drivers10. Select Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge and click Next11. Windows tells you that the device ID cannot be verified. Click Yes to continue.12. Repeat steps 4-11 for the HubZ ZigBee Com Port device. I haven't been able to test the ZigBee radios in any of the environments yet, but I can confirm that the Z-Wave+ radio here works well on both Windows and Linux using the above procedures. Edit: With the latest version of Home Assistant 0.49.1 I can now use the ZigBee radio on this stick without any problems. I've upped my rating because this device works well on Linux, which is my main use case. The range is excellent, there have been no communication issues at all with devices in my house and I haven't had any reliability issues after a few weeks of use. This is the stick to get!
