Review on Seachem Purigen 1000ml: One-Stop Solution for Crystal Clear Aquarium Water by Dale Mankad

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The fish appear to be floating in the air! A Seachem mesh bag or similar must be used!

First of all I want to tell you that with over 30 years of professional and personal aquarium servicing and maintenance I can tell you that the number one thing owners want is consistently crystal clear water! To achieve this, many things are required, such as: I've used every other medium for decades to remove the remaining fine particles, even the best filtration will let everything through with decent results, but nothing beats Seachem Purigen! I mean nothing. An added bonus is that it can be recharged many times, making the price much more manageable in the long run! I have several aquariums with 90 planted communities, a 135 gallon very crowded African cichlid and a 220 gallon SA/CA aquarium with some very big Oscars! Except for my scratched Oscar glass, the water is crystal clear! I use 1000ml in each of my 5 canisters of Fluval FX6. 2 on my 135 and 3 on my 220. I have them so every 3 months I take them out of a canister and reload and replace with the batch I just reloaded. ! Like I said, nothing compares! It can last up to 6 months on a single charge, but for me with my filter schedule, making a canister every 3 months is easier. Make sure to use regular unflavored bleach etc. to charge. You will need Seachem Prime once you are done bleaching. For those who don't understand how to use it, here's a hint! You really need a Seachem mesh bag! If not, expect it to go everywhere once you put it in your filtering! Don't whine about it causing problems if you didn't follow the instructions! This only controls the nitrates that are being removed by the micro-organic waste that is in your water column and is not being captured by your filtration. It doesn't actually help lower your NITRATE, if it does it will be minimal! If you have a nitrate problem, try taking better care of your aquarium or feeding less! When used correctly, this material does a great job!
