Review on Reese Towpower 74378 Pilot Controller by Josh Jeffries

Works great in trailer accessory

It's simple and easy to install and set up. It doesn't offer proportional braking, but for basic braking control, it's the easiest to install (mount in any position) and easiest to use, which is what my friends and I have found. All you need is power, a ground and wire to turn off the foot switch, and power delivery to your trailer's brakes. If your rig is pre-wired, all you need is an adapter plug for your vehicle make and model and you just plug it in, plug it in and you're done. My particular vehicle was not pre-wired, but (local auto parts store) had the wiring, connectors and circuit breaker installed and commissioned and tested only took a couple of hours. small wheel (the display shows the output voltage of the trailer brakes) just before your trailer's brakes lock and then loosen them slightly. Then you are set up and ready to go! What we liked the most 1. That you can install it in any position 2. It runs a continuous self-test and if everything is working properly, you'll see a small "C" on the screen (meaning it's plugged in and working correctly). When disabled, it displays the braking voltage applied to the trailer's brakes. If you are not properly connected to the trailer, you will just see a blank screen with a decimal point.3. It was easy to install, set up and use, supports up to 3 axles and has worked flawlessly for the last few thousand miles of towing. I've tested it on flat, hilly and mountainous terrain and it's great to find a product that I highly recommend. For the money I would rate it as best value for money. The next step will be a proportional brake control controller that will hit high dollar units starting at around $150.
