Minor modifications may be required.

. I recently installed a K&N cold air intake kit on my CTS which gives the car's exhaust a slightly deep and hoarse sound. Acceleration seems a bit "snappy" but that's subjective, I haven't done any time trials. There were a few minor issues with getting the sheet metal "heat shield" (as K&N calls it) to where the stock was in the filter housing. I had to tweak the crease on the "heat shield" side next to the wing's inner mounting hole. The K&N factory bend was too big. Putting the metal in a vise and applying some pressure was enough to make it fit better. I also drilled a new hole in the heat shield to attach the 5/8" OD aluminum post. The engine compartment side cover snaps onto a brace attached to the heat shield. It snapped more securely in place after drilling a new hole, to move the aluminum post about 1/4" to the left of its original position. After the above modifications, the heat shield fits fairly well. Not intended for sealing. The heat shield is used to hold and support the filter element and air duct. It also prevents some of the engine's radiant heat will reach the filter, but it is not necessary to seal all gaps and crevices with heater tape as other reviews have said. The easiest way to align and properly install all of the screws and fasteners is before they are complete Leave them loose - about 1 turn from tight After all the screws have partially started, align the parts a us and then lightly tighten all the screws. Then go back and fully tighten all fasteners. Brackets were normal size. Another review mentions a hot water hose from the engine next to the K&N intake manifold, but I haven't had that problem. None of the pipes, ducts, brackets, etc. on the K&N assembly had any problems or interference with the pipes or "ducts" on the engine or radiator. All in all, the installation took about 2 hours. It would be faster if I didn't have to bend the heat shield. But it worked with a bit more effort - and looks and works well.

Pros
  • . Good workmanship.
Cons
  • . Security.
