Easy installation with detailed instructions.

Installed this expensive kit on a 2008 CTS. It only took about 30 minutes. Very easy installation with instructions and CTS specific images for almost every step. Noticeable increase in HP. However, the heat shield/airbox doesn't fit snugly on the underside and I'm not sure if that would make a significant difference.

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Almost never

Airbox not fitting well or tight as it should

Airbox not fitting well or tightly as it should. I've read other reviews saying the same thing but figured K&N is a big name in the business and the price to match it must have been something that someone did wrong during installation. Well they were right, it seems like a universal design that fits almost everyone. Installation is easy enough, but if you're a perfectionist, be prepared to make some modifications to make the box fit better.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

MPG Gain and Nice Standard Exhaust Sound

I installed it on my 2010 CTS 3.6 Performance and while I can't confirm the HP Gain I can tell you that my MPG went from 23.5 to 25.8 is measured over several 60 miles. Travel. The stock exhaust also has a nice soft raspy sound that wasn't there before when accelerating. I assume the horsepower gain on the K&N torque sheet is pretty accurate. There are a couple of issues. The air intake pipe runs over the hot water return hose, which runs from the top of the engine through the engine…

Minor modifications may be required.

. I recently installed a K&N cold air intake kit on my CTS which gives the car's exhaust a slightly deep and hoarse sound. Acceleration seems a bit "snappy" but that's subjective, I haven't done any time trials. There were a few minor issues with getting the sheet metal "heat shield" (as K&N calls it) to where the stock was in the filter housing. I had to tweak the crease on the "heat shield" side next to the wing's inner mounting hole. The K&N factory bend was too big. Putting the metal in a…

Pros
  • . Good workmanship.
Cons
  • . Security.
