I bought this floor mat because it is similar to the one I had before (which I had to throw away because a skunk spattered dog rendered it useless). It is not very thick, but if there is not much free space under your door, then this is a virtue. I haven't had it that long so I can't say how long it will last but I think many years. It was rolled up in a box and when unrolled and straightened overnight it was smooth with no waves. If it gets dirty, it easily vacuums in carpet mode. It's rubberized plastic on the bottom and around the edges. The edges are thin enough so that the rug lies well on the floor and does not slip easily. The center portion of the mat is made of corrugated man-made fibers and can be 1/4 inch high. There isn't much room for a door swinging over it, but the door won't stick to this rug. Time will tell, but after a few weeks I'm very satisfied. - Scott
