Works great in Tools & Equipment

I don't know how the spark plug hole got cross-threaded. But it happened. So here's the thing. These thread cutters come in different sizes. Make sure you get exactly what you need. Using vernier calipers, measure the plunger and then measure the tapping chuck. Align the threads side by side. Then dip the working part into the grease. I've used an aluminum anti-seize compound, but I'm not sure if the exact type of lube used matters. The lubricant performs two functions. First, to lubricate the process of cutting a new thread. Secondly, to ensure that any metal shavings stick to the tap so they don't end up in the barrel. If someone gets in there, attach some sort of small attachment to the suction hose so you can suck them out. threads are caught. You can then put a wrench on it and tighten it to spec.
