Review on πŸ”© Gates TCK328 PowerGrip Timing Belt Component Kit: Superior Quality for Perfect Engine Performance by Joe Calabro

The tensioner has made the leap in time

Complete set installed, everything driven about 200 km. One night as I was driving home, my Legacy turned itself off and wouldn't turn back on. I checked the car the day after towing it home (thank god for ahh) and found that the intake cam bank 2 had jumped 90 degrees. I found that the tensioner that came with the kit wasn't giving the belt enough power. I also checked the rollers, the small roller had some play after tightening. So I hoped and prayed, installed the previous tensioner (ntn) and installed the old small pulley. He brought everything back in time and nervously turned the key. Luckily the car started, there were no misfires and the engine was idling normally after warming up. This is the third set of Gates belts I've used and have never had this problem with them. Installed 2 on my 2006 wrx and now this one on my 2009 gt. I don't recommend buying this kit just because the tensioner doesn't provide enough pressure. I've had luck with valves not making contact when time skipped. Gates needs to go back to the quality they had in those kits 4-5 years ago.
