No taste at all. The rope burns well. The lighters fit snugly in the holder. Easy to use once you get the hang of it. Can pull a rope into the metal pipe it runs through when it's on fire to put out the flames. A small jump to keep the rope in place when rewinding. Simply pull up when needed.
