The plugs are not actually made of metal!

I bought these about 6 months ago. I noticed that the "metallic" ends of the cones that go into the bottle were speckled, and then I realized they were actually covered in plastic in a thin, stainless steel-like shell. I have never put them in the dishwasher or even submerged them in water. I'm assuming the other part (protruding from the bottle) is stainless steel. So they can say what they're doing. I'm disappointed and glad I got them for myself and not as a gift.
