This purchase is to replace your stock Avalanche 07 radio. Android requirements for reference. Provide a rear view camera view for reversing. wheel control. Allow mobile phones to be used via Bluetooth. Direct replacement without the need to purchase additional cables or chassis brackets. While good, it posed a problem as my truck is parked elsewhere waiting for the engine to be repaired. The device arrived and was unpacked, one of the screws in the CD drive was not properly tightened. The packaging in the box was good, all cables were in sealed plastic bags and the tool kit needed to remove the plastic shroud was a definite plus. out of the garage today (because the temp has dropped to make working in the car more comfortable) with a handful of tools total time I estimate to be around 1 hour - 90 minutes. With a little practice it gets faster. The paneling had already been removed (so no tools were required) as the car had recently put new labels on worn heater controls and the cigarette lighter sockets had been replaced with USB charging points before equipment was installed. The radio was removed (3 antenna plugs and two wiring harness plugs) and a spare fitted to the back of a truck to work and hook up as I don't have video capability or amplifiers on the truck, most of the cables supplied were unused but still had to have the radio fitted will. After the last check of the cables, the device was installed in the truck. GPS antenna and microphone (redundant as unit has one built in) The latter was not installed as the built in seems to work fine on its own and the former could not currently be routed to connect due to the lack of a cable pull lock through the dash. The included speaker for the canbus horns was tested for function but not used for the rest of the setup as it was a bit noisy (56 ohm resistor in series as others have said should make the volume more usable - it should wait , until the car will not be at home). The device installs neatly and unlike other users, it doesn't require any changes to the depth of the truck's dashboard to adjust, and the extra cables have been managed to be hidden. The cable that provided images from the rear camera was plugged in (this was not included) but not connected to the camera (tools and location meant I had no way of re-routing the cables). After everything was plugged in, short term performance tests and validations were done to my satisfaction, the rest of the controls were reinstalled along with the wood trim. I started by syncing the device with my cellphone for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (it took me a few tries to figure out that my phone didn't have the device as a trusted device for the Wi-Fi hotspot). I googled my favorite band to play the music video, the sound and picture quality didn't disappoint although the plastic screen protector was left in place. I fiddled with the radio settings to check local stations. Playback of audio and video files stored in the device's memory was also great, but I didn't have a CD to test with. It also indicates things like an open door on the panel. I experimented a bit with other options, button lights, steering wheel controls worked right away, I set the boot image for the Chevrolet "Bowtie" and set the timeout to 60 minutes (essentially it saves everything as it was to start it immediately continue when you drive to work, you don't have to wait for a restart). just as if not better than the aging OEM unit, the buttons work well and the screen is reasonably responsive in use. There's a downside, though, and it's a real shame that the quality of the device's volume controls and settings feels cheap and cheap to use. Spent pennies on a better quality potentiometer (or encoder as I don't think I hit any limits) and the controller itself. For VFM sound and picture quality, appearance, easy installation and comprehensive overall performance. Give it a 9.5 out of 10 just for these pens. I've included key photos of the unit when it arrived and installation began (there are plenty of disassembly photos and videos online if you know how to google).
