This door was said to be solid wood. It is solid, but the pieces are dovetailed together. Initially out of the box there was an odor to the pieces but that dissipated fairly quickly. There are no measurements to guide you where to place the screws into the wall. I had to move several of them because the door would not retract far enough to be clear of the door frame. Others have complained about clearance. It states in the instructions included with the door and on the listing that at backer is needed on the wall. Once installed, the door is very sturdy and was exactly what I was looking for. It is definitely a good value. I managed to do all of it by myself (female) but it would have been easier if I had some help. Overall this is a great option if you want a barn door and cannot afford one for $800 or $900.
