Review on Dutton Lainson Company Goldenrod Pistol Oiler by Daniel Beaver

The weak link is the glued spout

The pump itself works well, the weak link is the flexible spout. The nose flexes very little compared to the old Eagle brand lubricators which, while no longer in production, are the gold standard for flex-nose pump lubricators. Another problem is that the flexible spout itself is mostly glued to the fixed part of the pump, as is the spout tip. If you look closely at the picture, you can see two white drops of cement, one next to the pump handle and the other at the nozzle tip. In the good old days these parts were soldered. Goldrod hard snout oilers do not have this design. Be sure to gently bend the grommet and do not hold the grommet where the PVA glue connects the grommet parts.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Discontinued model
