Old-school alternative to WD-40 spray

This oil can is a second gadget that will feel right at home on your dad's desk. It has a solid construction and the trigger has a smooth action that entices you to use it as an oil and water gun. (once only) I use this with WD-30 oil on squeaky door hinges, exterior locks and lock toggles. The combination of heavy oil and controlled slow application makes it a good alternative to spraying WD-40. At 6 inches in diameter, this oiler is small, but that's not a problem for me. I highly recommend…

Nice little oil pump.

Due to the flexible neck, it can get into otherwise inaccessible places. I used it with Kroil to drench the header and exhaust manifold bolts on my car's engine (some of which you can't see because of the heat shield, but I bent my neck and sprayed around the corner). The only thing I would do. I'd like to see if that would change if it were possible to not squirt as much when I just pulled the trigger lightly. Especially with thin oil like Kroil it comes out very quickly no matter how little I

The weak link is the glued spout

The pump itself works well, the weak link is the flexible spout. The nose flexes very little compared to the old Eagle brand lubricators which, while no longer in production, are the gold standard for flex-nose pump lubricators. Another problem is that the flexible spout itself is mostly glued to the fixed part of the pump, as is the spout tip. If you look closely at the picture, you can see two white drops of cement, one next to the pump handle and the other at the nozzle tip. In the good old…

Premium quality butter dish from a great American company!

I've had a Dutton Lainson oiler most of my life. My dad had one when I was a kid and thanks to lots of use it never died. He ended up having problems with the spout but he fixed it and it's still working! If you're looking for the very best oil can from an American company that has been making quality oil cans for decades, then you've come to the right place! This isn't the one-off chinese junk you see at every other hardware store! The butt sleeve is turned, cast metal, not stamped like the…

A classic oil bowl that MUST last a lifetime

This oil bowl is as I remember it thirty years ago. As for the one punch I've read, I can't tell if it's made of lighter materials. It looks solid and is up to the task. if you think about it When I first tried to adjust the flexible tip, it broke where it was epoxy glued to the metal end. Now I know that adhesives, fabricating and gluing flexible metal tubing onto a smooth, epoxy-coated metal part is a bad idea. The epoxy was too brittle. What happened to low temperature soldering or…

Must have (several) for every machine shop

The quality of this pump is excellent. I will buy a few more for different oils. This pump does not leak and once filled it will remain until it is empty. I use a water soluble lubricant/coolant in this pump for milling and turning all types of steel and other metals. The other pumps that run down my arms don't stay filled but cost about the same! It is very important that the pump stays filled and does not leak. If you have to wrap a rag around the pump to keep your hands from getting oily…

Pros
  • Slim design

Well-made all-metal lubricator with excellent oil control

For as long as I can remember, my father has owned one of these. I don't know if it's the same company name, but the design and features are identical. Along with an all-metal construction. USA all-metal construction with good oil separation. Features a check valve on the bottom of the intake so once you start supplying oil you don't need two or three pumps to collect the oil unlike some other smaller oil pumps. This allows you to modulate the output at the tip into very small drops with a…

Pros
  • Easy installation

  • There are other interesting options.
