Strange mesh marks all over

The entire leather strip was covered with these strange mesh marks all over, which makes me question the "rich uniform color" clause in the description. It's quite stained and the leather smells funny too, not at all like other quality leathers I've bought from major brands over the years (Tanner, Saddleback, Nick's Boots, etc.). I'm not really sure what to do with it, but I think I received one from a bad batch or the item was incorrectly stored. I'll be in touch soon and hope for a replacement.
