Good set for beginners - wood carving tools

This is a good set for beginners or teenagers who want to learn how to make stamps. My kids and I enjoy it. We got another set from another seller which I like a little better because it comes with a variety of tools rather than multiple attachments for one tool. There are benefits to both sides - this set packs better and takes up less space. The tool is also a bit easier to hold due to its shape. A set with a large number of tools is good because several people can use it at the same time by sharing the set. The rubber in this set is of good quality but I like the other set a bit better as the rubber is tri-colored. almost like a sandwich of color. This helps us know how deep we've cut. When we see the next color, we know we've cut deep enough for the stamp. I would recommend for beginners to get some colored rubber with liners. But this material is still good and easy to work with. It cuts like butter and is addictive. The roller is the same one found in many diamond painting kits. It's nothing fancy, but it's smooth and flat, suitable for printing, and helps us press firmly but evenly on the entire stamp. This is better than stroking with your hands, it creates a more even surface. Overall this is a fun starter kit - it makes a great gift for a creative teen or teenager. However, in a plain brown box and not in the pretty packaging from the store. But all the individual parts are packed inside in such a way that you can make a small gift basket out of them.

Pros
  • Ergonomic design rollerball pen - saves you much time and effort
Cons
  • Sundries
